Welcome to the Institute of Public Administration at Leiden University. Our institute is located in the Hague, the international city of peace and justice with the presence of many international organizations, and the seat of the government of the Netherlands. The institute enrolls over 1,000 students in its Bachelor, Master and PhD programs.
Our Erasmus partner universities are:
- University of Konstanz, Germany
- Kassel University, Germany
- University of Bergen, Norway
- University of Oslo, Norway
- Stockholm University, Sweden
- Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, Greece
- Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland
- University of Catania, Italy
- Istanbul University, Turkey
Subject to agreement with the Erasmus coordinator, students can follow some courses in other study programs, such as in the International Studies in The Hague or in other programs in Leiden (see the course catalogue: e-prospectus). Students are obliged to take at least 15 ECTS within the Institute of Public Administration.
Our institute is part of the EMPA network. We welcome students either in the fall (September – December/January) or spring semester from our partner universities.
Our master program Master in Public Administration is in English and it offers three specializations: International & European Governance, Economics & Governance, and Public Management. EMPA students can take any course in our regular program with few exceptions (e.g. thesis writing seminar, methods courses).
The courses offered can be found through the electronic course catalogue, the e-prospectus. Students who have sufficient level of Dutch proficiency can also take courses from the MSc in Management van de Publieke Sector.
