Studying in The Hague
The Hague is the political capital of The Netherlands, and the seat of many ministries and government institutions (such as the Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands, Statistics Netherlands, The Netherlands Institute for Social Research, the Court of Audit and the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets) as well as multinationals and private companies.
During recent years the city of The Hague has grown into a true student city. With the start of the Leiden University College The Hague in September 2010 (as a department of the Faculty Campus The Hague) and the start of the Bachelor programme International Studies in september 2012, the city has gained a large group of Dutch and international students. Now that the Institute of Public Administration is also a part of the faculty, the number of university students will only increase. Next to this, the presence of the The Hague University of Applied Sciences, the Royal Conservatoire, the Royal Academy of Art and the Hotelschool greatly contribute to the student community in The Hague.
The city offers excellent sport facilities. It hosts many cultural events, concerts and museums. The city offers a dynamic nightlife and many restaurants. Additionally, the local student associations organize an increasing number of activities especially for students.
For example, there is the “OhOhIntro-festival”, an annual event at the Lange Voorhout at the start of the new academic year, including music, DJs, food and drink.
All this takes place in the political capital of The Netherlands where, next to many ministries and government institutions (such as the Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands, Statistics Netherlands, The Netherlands Institute for Social Research, the Court of Audit and the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets), many multinationals and private companies are located.
